Alcoa Corporation, a prominent aluminum company with a vertically integrated business model, has received positive attention from analysts, including a reaffirmed Buy recommendation from UBS.
The company operates across the entire aluminum value chain, from mining bauxite and refining alumina to producing aluminum and generating power. Alcoa's operations are divided into two main segments: Alumina and Aluminum.
The Alumina segment includes a global refinery system that converts bauxite into alumina, which is then sold to both internal aluminum smelters and external customers for industrial chemical production. The Aluminum segment comprises a comprehensive smelting and foundry system that transforms alumina into primary aluminum, supported by energy plants in Brazil, Canada, and the United States. The smelters produce molten primary aluminum, which is further processed into common alloy ingots or value-added ingots at the foundries. Additionally, Alcoa has a significant stake in the Alcoa World Alumina and Chemicals joint venture, which oversees various bauxite mines and alumina refineries.
