French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged €100 million in aid for Lebanon during an international conference focused on addressing the humanitarian crisis caused by the recent Israeli invasion.
The funding is intended to assist over 1 million displaced individuals in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces are conducting airstrikes and ground operations against the Hezbollah militant group.
The conference, held in Paris, brought together senior officials from 70 countries and international organizations to discuss strategies for supporting Lebanon, a nation with a complex history of war, corruption, and economic challenges.
The situation has been further exacerbated by the devastating explosion at an ammunition factory in Beirut in 2020, which resulted in over 200 deaths and approximately $15 billion in property damage.
Macron stressed the urgent need for an end to the hostilities in the region.
