Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was fatally shot in Manhattan on December 4, 2024. The shooting occurred in front of the Hilton Hotel at around 6:45 a.m., where the company was hosting its Investor Day.

Reports indicate that a firearm equipped with a silencer was used in the premeditated attack. Thompson, who had been with UnitedHealth Group since 2004 and became CEO of UnitedHealthcare in 2021, played a significant role in various mergers, acquisitions, and government programs.
