Boeing has shipped the first two redesigned O3b mPower satellites, which address power issues that affected the initial six satellites in SES's MEO broadband network.
The satellites, equipped with redesigned power modules, were transported from Boeing's facility in California and are expected to launch in December via SpaceX.
Despite the challenges, SES proceeded with the launch of the fifth and sixth satellites without modifications.
The company plans to launch three more satellites in mid-2025 and the final two at the end of 2026.
SES CEO Adel Al-Saleh emphasized the importance of the upgraded satellites in meeting customer demand.
SES is also pursuing a $472 million insurance claim to recover losses related to the O3b mPower satellites.
Boeing has reported $315 million in losses associated with its satellite contract for SES.
Despite setbacks, SES has secured a $200 million contract to provide connectivity to NATO members.
Financially, SES reported 1.48 billion euros in revenue for the year, with adjusted EBITDA falling by 2%.
However, growth in the connectivity business is positively influencing overall financial trends.
SES anticipates full-year revenue and adjusted EBITDA to reach the upper end of its forecasted range.
The successful launch of the redesigned satellites will be crucial for SES in enhancing its service offerings and addressing customer demands.
