Francois Villeroy de Galhau, a member of the European Central Bank Governing Council, emphasized that the ECB's monetary policy decisions are independent of the Federal Reserve.
Villeroy stated that the ECB, led by Christine Lagarde, began lowering interest rates in June, which was earlier than the Fed's decision to do the same three months later.
Villeroy also mentioned that the ECB is well-positioned to continue reducing rates due to the recent decline in inflation.
