Northvolt AB, a battery manufacturer based in Sweden, has recently announced that it will be laying off approximately 1,200 employees.
The layoffs come after union negotiations and will primarily affect the Northvolt Ett plant, a crucial manufacturing site in northern Sweden.
The IF Metall union has stated that over 800 of its members will be impacted by the job cuts.
This decision is in line with the company's previously disclosed plan to reduce its workforce by around 1,000 positions.
In addition, unions representing white-collar workers at the facility have also indicated that about 400 of their members will face job cuts.
These layoffs are part of the company's ongoing restructuring efforts, which reflect the challenges it is currently facing in the market.
