Andhra Pradesh is considering the possibility of terminating a power supply contract with the Adani Group due to serious allegations against its founder, Gautam Adani.
Adani and seven others have been indicted by U.S. authorities for allegedly paying $265 million in bribes to Indian government officials in order to secure solar power contracts in multiple states, including Andhra Pradesh, between 2021 and 2022.
The indictment claims that a significant portion of the bribes, totaling $228 million, was directed towards a government official to facilitate agreements with the state's electricity distribution companies.
In response to these developments, Andhra Pradesh's Finance Minister, Payyavula Keshav, has stated that the state government is thoroughly examining internal files from the previous administration related to the alleged misconduct.
Adani has denied the allegations, dismissing them as unfounded.
