Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister for Commerce and Industries, has recently developed a positive view towards hybrid vehicles, specifically plug-in hybrids. He initially had reservations about hybrids but has now recognized their potential as practical transitional vehicles in the automotive market.
Goyal emphasized that hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), which combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor, have the ability to significantly reduce carbon emissions. He also highlighted the advantages of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), such as alleviating range anxiety, reducing fuel consumption, and decreasing reliance on petrol.
This endorsement comes at a time when the automotive industry is increasingly focused on electric vehicle development.
