IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva will not attend the UN climate summit in person this year, opting to participate virtually instead.
This will be the first time in four years that she will not be present at the event. The summit's objective is to secure global financing to support developing nations in their efforts to adapt to climate change.
Georgieva's decision to participate online is due to her upcoming commitments, which include the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Peru and a Group of 20 leaders summit in Brazil. A spokesperson for the IMF confirmed Georgieva's schedule and emphasized the significance of her involvement in global economic discussions.
