Authorities, including FINMA, ComCo, and SNB, held a meeting to discuss the competitive implications of the UBS merger with Credit Suisse.
This was the second meeting of its kind and aimed to address concerns raised by the public and the economy regarding the impact of the merger on the market.
During the meeting, an update on ongoing market observations was provided, and initial discussions were held on ComCo's recommendations.
In a previous report, ComCo expressed concerns about potential dominance by UBS in certain markets following the acquisition of Credit Suisse.
Despite these concerns, FINMA decided to waive certain competition law requirements for the merger.
Following the discussions, UBS shares experienced a temporary increase of 0.77%, reaching 28.19 Swiss francs on the SIX exchange.
