China has recently announced that residents of Shenzhen will once again be able to obtain multiple-entry visas for travel to Hong Kong starting from December 1.
Under this new policy, Shenzhen residents will be allowed to make multiple entries into Hong Kong within a year, with each stay permitted for a maximum of seven days.
This marks a reversal of the previous restrictions that were put in place in 2015, which limited visits to once a week.
The initial limitations were implemented in response to concerns in Hong Kong about the high number of traders making frequent trips to take advantage of lower taxes on goods purchased for resale in mainland China.
The relaxation of these visa restrictions is expected to promote increased travel and commerce between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, reflecting a change in policy aimed at enhancing cross-border relations.
