Swiss NGOs urge for one trillion dollars in climate aid at COP29

Swiss NGOs Alliance Sud and WWF are calling for a significant increase in financial support for developing countries ahead of the UN climate conference in Baku.

They are urging for an annual commitment of $1 trillion, as the conference aims to establish a new financial aid target to replace the previously set $100 billion goal.

Laurent Matile from Alliance Sud emphasized the need for a more ambitious collective financing target, highlighting the urgency to address the climate crisis that disproportionately affects the poorest nations.

The conference, which runs until November 22, aims to address these critical financial needs as part of the global response to climate change.
