Fort Lauderdale is undergoing a $2 billion redevelopment project at the Bahia Mar marina, led by a consortium of developers including the Related Group, Tate Capital, and Rok Enterprises.
The aim of the project is to create a luxurious resort-style environment with hotel and condominium towers, a beach club, restaurants, and retail spaces.
The project will replace the existing DoubleTree hotel with a St. Regis hotel and introduce multiple condominium towers.
The Bahia Mar marina is the largest in Fort Lauderdale and hosts the prestigious Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
The new development will include a range of dining options, public amenities, and slips for yachts up to 350 feet.
The project has faced opposition in the past but has been adjusted to address concerns and now includes scaled-down buildings and more public amenities.
The developers are optimistic that the new marina will attract a diverse and affluent clientele, with 65% of attendees at the boat show coming from overseas.
The project is scheduled to open in late 2029 and is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy and real estate market, revitalizing the surrounding area and attracting new visitors and residents.
