Apple has scaled back production of its Vision Pro headset, which is priced at around $3,500 in the U.S., due to competition from Meta's Quest 3, available for approximately $500.
According to reports, employees at three suppliers have assembled enough components for between 500,000 and 600,000 units of the Vision Pro. Production of Vision Pro components was halted in May at one factory, indicating potential challenges in meeting demand and the overall market dynamics for high-end virtual reality devices.
This shift in production strategy raises questions about Apple's future plans for the Vision Pro and its positioning against more affordable alternatives in the growing VR market.
