Maruti Suzuki to launch first electric vehicle in 2025 targeting global markets

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced its plans to introduce its first electric vehicle (EV) in January 2025, targeting advanced markets like Europe and Japan.

The new model will be built on a dedicated platform designed specifically for electric vehicles, rather than modifying an existing internal combustion engine model.

The upcoming EV is expected to have a 60-kilowatt-hour battery, in line with recent government standards, although detailed specifications will be disclosed later.

Manufacturing will take place in India, with a strong focus on global export opportunities.

The official unveiling of this innovative vehicle will take place at the Bharat Mobility Show in January, with additional market launches expected in the following months as Maruti Suzuki aims to establish a prominent presence in the electric vehicle sector.
