WVU Medicine expands network with Weirton Medical Center acquisition

West Virginia University Health System is expanding its network by adding Weirton Medical Center, a 238-bed acute care facility in Weirton, West Virginia.

The two organizations have signed a letter of intent for the partnership, which is described as a significant community investment.

This partnership follows a clinical collaboration that began in 2020 and is part of WVU Medicine's broader strategy of acquiring hospitals in the region.

Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, West Virginia, and Thomas Health in Charleston, West Virginia, have also been integrated into the network.

These acquisitions demonstrate WVU Medicine's dedication to improving healthcare services across West Virginia.
