us india trade ties expected to grow despite political changes

Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal is confident that trade relations between the United States and India will continue to thrive, regardless of any changes in government leadership.

He emphasized the increasing economic integration between the two nations, which he believes will only strengthen over time. India's trade with the US has experienced significant growth, with annual trade exceeding $190 billion.

From FY20 to FY24, India's merchandise exports to the US increased by 46%, reaching $77.5 billion. Imports from the US also rose, growing by 17.9% to $42.2 billion. Barthwal highlighted the bipartisan support for this economic relationship as a positive sign for future collaboration.
