HashKey, a Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange, has obtained a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from the Central Bank of Ireland, allowing it to offer various crypto-related services in Ireland.
This move marks HashKey's entry into the European market and aligns with the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR).
The license enables HashKey to facilitate fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-crypto trading, custodial wallet services, and the transfer of virtual assets on behalf of clients.
The acquisition of the VASP license reflects the growing regulatory framework for the crypto industry in Ireland, with the Irish Central Bank having already approved 16 virtual asset service providers. These regulations aim to prevent money laundering and financing of terrorism.
