Smallcaps Surge as Market Indices Continue Strong Outperformance This Week

The mid- and small-cap indices have shown consistent growth for the third consecutive week, increasing by over 3 percent. This positive performance can be attributed to favorable market cues and foreign institutional investors becoming net buyers.

Sector-wise, there was strong performance, with the BSE Mid-cap Index rising by 3.5 percent and the BSE Small-cap Index increasing by 3.3 percent. Notably, the Nifty Realty and PSU Bank indices each saw a 5 percent rise, while the Nifty Metal and Media sectors added 4 percent. The Nifty IT index also experienced a nearly 4 percent increase, indicating a broad-based rally across various sectors.

The BSE Sensex closed at 81,709.12, experiencing a surge of 1,906.33 points or 2.38 percent. Similarly, the Nifty50 index gained 546.7 points or 2.26 percent, finishing at 24,677.8.
