Nestle India Ltd. has stated that the recent suspension of the 'most favoured nation' (MFN) status by Switzerland will not impact its operations.
A company representative clarified that this decision, resulting from a Supreme Court ruling on tax rates for dividends, is a broader policy matter between the two governments and not specific to Nestle.
The suspension follows a ruling indicating that Switzerland's reduction of tax rates does not necessitate reciprocal action from India without an official government notification.
Nestle India, known for its popular brands like Maggi, Nescafe, and KitKat, has been applying a 10% withholding tax on cross-border payments, which the representative confirmed remains unchanged.
Nestle has been a significant player in the Indian market for over 112 years, ranking among the top ten markets for its parent company, Nestle SA.
