BNP Paribas, the leading banking group in France, has released a breakdown of its Net Banking Income (NBI) for the year.
Retail banking makes up 54% of NBI, with significant contributions from France (24.1%), Belgium (14.6%), and Italy (10.2%). The remaining 51.1% of NBI comes from international activities and specialized financial services, including consumer credit, real estate financing, leasing, and vehicle fleet management.
Corporate and investment banking accounts for 34.4% of NBI, primarily driven by advisory and capital markets activities, which represent 83.7% of this segment. Financing activities contribute the remaining 16.3%.
Institutional and private banking, along with insurance services, make up 11.6% of NBI, highlighting BNP Paribas's strong position in asset management and private banking, where it ranks as the number one in France and Europe for securities custody.
As of the end of 2023, BNP Paribas managed EUR 988.5 billion in deposits and EUR 859.2 billion in loans.
The geographical distribution of NBI shows a strong focus on Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, which accounts for 82.9%, while the Americas and Asia-Pacific contribute 9.8% and 7.3%, respectively.
