Over the past decade, billionaires' wealth has increased by 121%, reaching a total of $14 trillion, which is significantly higher than the 73% growth of the MSCI AC World index during the same period.
The most notable increase in wealth has been observed among tech billionaires, whose wealth has tripled from 2015 to 2024, amounting to $2.4 trillion. This growth can be attributed to advancements in generative artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, 3D printing, and robotics.
According to a survey conducted by UBS, 40% of billionaires plan to increase their investments in real estate and equities from industrialized nations in the coming year. Additionally, 40% expressed a desire to allocate more funds to safe havens like gold and other precious metals, while 31% intend to boost their cash reserves. This shift in investment strategy may be a response to concerns over geopolitical risks and current equity market valuations.
