Authorities are currently investigating UBS's market power after its acquisition of Credit Suisse.
A recent meeting was held to address public and economic concerns about the merger. The meeting involved the Price Supervisor, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma), the Competition Commission (Comco), and the Swiss National Bank (SNB).
During the meeting, the Price Supervisor provided updates on market observations and initial insights into Comco's recommendations. It is worth noting that no memorandum of understanding was established during this exchange.
A report from Comco in June suggested that UBS may have significant dominance in certain markets after the merger. However, Finma has not imposed any competition law conditions related to the merger, which has raised concerns about the competitive landscape in the Swiss banking sector.
