Farmers in Rajasthan have planted rabi crops across 8.65 million hectares as of November 28, 2024, which is an increase of almost 8% compared to the same period last year when it was 7.97 million hectares.
The state agriculture department has reported that the acreage for chana has grown by 12.8% to 1.85 million hectares, while wheat sowing has seen a significant increase of 28.6% to 1.85 million hectares compared to the previous year.
The total area dedicated to pulses has expanded to 1.89 million hectares, up from 1.68 million hectares last year. Cereal acreage has also increased to 2.14 million hectares from 1.67 million hectares. Barley sowing has experienced growth, rising to 289,330 hectares from 226,090 hectares in the prior year.
On the other hand, the area for rapeseed and mustard has decreased to 3.16 million hectares from 3.39 million hectares, resulting in a decline in total oilseed acreage to 3.25 million hectares from 3.51 million hectares last year. Rajasthan has set a target of achieving rabi sowing on 12.0 million hectares this season.
