Zambia explores debt-for-nature swap to support environmental projects

Zambia's Finance Minister, Situmbeko Musokotwane, has revealed that the country is considering a debt-for-nature swap as a means of managing its foreign debt obligations.

This approach would involve refinancing government debt and using the savings to support environmentally sustainable projects.

The government is currently evaluating this option, although no formal plan has been finalized yet.

These discussions took place during the annual meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in Washington.
