Regula Berger, who has been with Basler Kantonalbank (BKB) since 2018, has been appointed as the new CEO, taking over from Basil Heeb.
Berger, a trained lawyer, previously held the positions of Head of Legal and Compliance and Head of Commercial Client Sales at BKB. She also served as Deputy CEO at the end of 2023.
Prior to joining BKB, Berger spent a decade at Zürcher Kantonalbank, where she was the Team Leader for Legal Advice Trading. She has also worked as an assistant at the University of Bern and the Swiss Takeover Board.
Adrian Bult, Chairman of the Board of Directors, commended Berger's extensive professional expertise and leadership skills, which she has demonstrated during her six years at BKB.
The bank is currently searching for a replacement for the Commercial Customer Sales division.
Additionally, BKB has withdrawn a controversial financial product that allowed customers to speculate on shares of Rheinmetall, a German arms company, due to a conflict with its guidelines on controversial environmental and social issues.
