e-retailers challenge CCI probe as Karnataka High Court hears case

A group of e-retailers, including Rocket Kommerce LLP and Sane Retail, has challenged the ongoing investigation by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) against major e-commerce platforms Amazon and Flipkart in the Karnataka High Court.

The retailers argue that the CCI's probe exceeds its original mandate, seeking exclusion from the investigation that was initiated in 2020.

The Karnataka High Court, presided over by Justice Hemant Chandangoudar, has temporarily stayed the investigation earlier this month.

The case highlights ongoing tensions between regulatory bodies and e-commerce giants in India, as the CCI scrutinizes practices within the rapidly growing online retail sector.
