Meta Platforms Inc. has been fined €798 million ($841 million) by European Union regulators for antitrust violations related to its Facebook Marketplace service.
This is the first time the company has been penalized for such violations in the EU.
The European Commission has ordered Meta to stop linking its classified-ads service to its social media platform.
Additionally, the ruling prohibits the company from imposing unfair trading conditions on competing second-hand goods platforms, with the aim of creating a more competitive market environment.
