McDonald's invests 100 million to recover from E coli outbreak

McDonald's has set aside $100 million to recover from an E. coli outbreak that was linked to its Quarter Pounders.

The most affected franchises will receive $65 million of this allocation.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has identified slivered onions as the likely source of the contamination, which led to a recall from Taylor Farms in California.

The outbreak has caused at least 104 reported illnesses across multiple states, including 30 cases in Colorado, 19 in Montana, 13 in Nebraska, and 10 in New Mexico.

Federal health officials have reported that 34 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of the outbreak, which occurred between September 12 and October 21.
