U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan and Secretary of State Antony Blinken held discussions with Andriy Yermak, President Zelenskiy’s chief of staff, regarding military assistance for Ukraine and the potential involvement of North Korean troops in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Yermak stressed the significance of Ukraine’s Victory Plan, the implementation of the Peace Formula, and the necessity for increased military support and sanctions against Russia.
These discussions took place amidst concerns from NATO and South Korea about North Korea's reported preparations to send soldiers to support Russia. Yermak's visit to Washington coincided with heightened tensions due to the approaching U.S. presidential election.
The Biden administration has reaffirmed its commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and a lasting peace based on the United Nations Charter.
Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, the U.S. has provided more than $50 billion in military aid to Ukraine.
