sonam kapoor acquires iconic mumbai music store rhythm house for 5.7 million

Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja's Bhaane Group have purchased Mumbai's renowned music store, Rhythm House, for Rs 47.84 crore ($5.7 million).

The store, which had been a beloved destination for vinyl, cassette, and CD enthusiasts, closed in 2018 due to financial difficulties faced by its previous owner, Nirav Modi.

The sale was overseen by a resolution professional appointed by the Indian bankruptcy court, with the stakeholder committee confirming the transaction's value.

Rhythm House, occupying 3,600 square feet, has been a cultural landmark in Mumbai and its closure marked the end of an era for many music lovers.

Bhaane, known for its clothing line, is a part of Shahi Exports Pvt, a major player in the apparel industry that supplies global brands such as Uniqlo, Decathlon, and H&M.
