Taiwan urged to enhance chip technology for global semiconductor leadership

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) Senior Vice President Cliff Hou has stressed the importance of Taiwan improving its chip technology and supply chain capabilities in order to maintain its global leadership in the semiconductor industry.

As chairman of the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association, Hou has called for increased investment in research and development to solidify Taiwan's position as a key player in the global semiconductor supply chain.

In response to recent political developments, Hou has indicated that TSMC is working with the Taiwanese government to attract foreign partners to establish design and materials centers in Taiwan. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem on the island and ensure its competitiveness in the rapidly changing technology landscape.
