Foreign Institutional Investors Shift to Buying in Key Sectors in November

In November, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) changed their behavior and became net buyers in the second half of the month, purchasing approximately Rs 1,311 crore. This came after a significant sell-off of Rs 23,913 crore in the first half of November and a substantial offloading of Rs 87,590 crore in October.

Despite the volatility, FIIs' assets under custody (AUC) increased to Rs 71.88 lakh crore in November, up from Rs 71.08 lakh crore in October, indicating a slight recovery in investor sentiment. FIIs showed a strong interest in the financial services sector, investing Rs 9,597 crore, followed by Rs 2,429 crore in information technology and Rs 2,184 crore in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). This is in contrast to their previous selling patterns in October, where they divested Rs 26,139 crore in financial services and Rs 2,899 crore in IT.

Other sectors that attracted FII interest in November included realty with Rs 1,367 crore, capital goods at Rs 681 crore, consumer services at Rs 471 crore, and consumer durables at Rs 426 crore, showing a diversified approach to investment.
