UBS Group is undergoing a restructuring of its hedge fund division after the departure of Adolfo Oliete, who was the global head of research. Oliete had been with UBS for more than 12 years and was also responsible for overseeing the Asia-Pacific investment operations within the division.
Prior to joining UBS in 2012, Oliete worked as a convertible bond arbitrage trader at Highbridge Capital Management.
In June, UBS announced the creation of a unified global alternative investments unit, which manages $250 billion in assets. Despite the significant changes happening in the hedge fund unit, UBS has chosen not to provide any comment on Oliete's departure, and attempts to contact him for a statement have been unsuccessful.
