Federal Councillor Keller-Sutter has stressed the importance of having credible resolution plans for UBS. She has also highlighted the need for foreign subsidiaries to maintain higher equity levels than the current requirement of 60 percent.
This comes after concerns were raised about the capitalization of Credit Suisse's subsidiaries in the US and UK, which were found to be insufficient. While Keller-Sutter did not specify whether the equity backing should be 60 or 100 percent, she mentioned that other countries have set capital requirements higher than 60 percent.
Officials are currently examining the situation to determine the most appropriate capital backing for these subsidiaries in the future.
