Etihad Airways plans to invest around $1 billion in a comprehensive retrofit program to revamp its widebody aircraft fleet. This initiative, which is the largest of its kind for the Gulf carrier, will initially focus on approximately 50 twin-aisle jets, specifically the Boeing 787 and 777 models.
The program will later expand to include all widebody aircraft in the fleet. The extensive refurbishment will involve a complete cabin overhaul, the installation of high-speed internet, and the introduction of a new entertainment system, all aimed at enhancing the overall passenger experience.
This move is driven by the airline's desire to modernize its offerings in light of ongoing delays from aircraft manufacturers.
