bank closes branches after violent robberies shifts focus to digital services

BCJ has confirmed the closure of its Courgenay and Courrendlin branches, in addition to the earlier shutdown of locations in Alle and Le Noirmont due to violent ATM attacks in May.

Concerns have been raised by local officials, leading to a written inquiry being submitted to Parliament by Socialist MPs Jelica Aubry-Janketic and Jude Schindelholz.

The Government has responded by condemning the increase in violent robberies and expressing solidarity with the bank's staff.

BCJ now faces a critical decision between maintaining physical proximity to customers and ensuring the safety of employees and the surrounding community.

To address this challenge, the bank plans to enhance its digital services, aiming to provide a secure alternative for clients while prioritizing staff safety.
