Brazil has decided not to participate in China's New Silk Road initiative, which is seen as a setback for President Xi Jinping's infrastructure project.
The decision was announced by Celso Amorim, chief foreign policy advisor to Brazilian President Lula da Silva, who stated that Brazil's national interests do not align with participation in the initiative.
This announcement comes after a recent celebration between Lula and Xi regarding the Brics community, highlighting the contrasting dynamics in their diplomatic relations.
The New Silk Road, which aims to enhance global trade and connectivity, is reportedly facing challenges in gaining support from other nations.
