India's demand for Korean cuisine is on the rise, as imports of Korean food products have seen a significant increase.
Over the past five years, imports of noodles, pasta, and other Korean delicacies have grown eight-fold, reaching $12 million in FY24, up from $1.5 million in FY20.
This trend has continued into FY25, with pasta imports from Korea already reaching $7.4 million in the first five months, accounting for 61 percent of the total imports from the previous fiscal year.
South Korea's share of India's pasta imports has grown from 0.8 percent a decade ago to 8 percent in FY20, and now stands at an impressive 37 percent in FY24.
Between April and August 2024, Korean products made up 43.1 percent of India's pasta imports, highlighting the increasing integration of Korean food in the Indian market.
