Adani Group is said to be in advanced talks with the Odisha government to establish its first greenfield cement plant in the state. This move comes after the conglomerate's entry into the cement sector through various acquisitions in the past two years.
The proposed facility, to be built by Ambuja Cements Ltd, is expected to have a production capacity of 4 million tonnes per year and will require an investment of around Rs 3,000-3,500 crore. The manufacturing plant is expected to start operations within two to three years, with negotiations nearing completion.
Apart from the Odisha project, Adani Group is also planning to invest Rs 5,500 crore in the cement and logistics sectors in Bihar, although this venture is still in its early stages. The company aims to strengthen its position as India's largest cement producer by expanding its operations in the eastern region, which includes plans for a clinker grinding unit in Bihar, estimated to cost between Rs 1,600-2,000 crore.
