Italy increases healthcare funding to support economy and public health initiatives

The Economy Minister, Gianfranco Giorgetti, has announced a significant increase in funding for public healthcare. An additional €12 billion will be allocated over three years, raising the total funding from €134 billion in 2024 to €141 billion by 2027.

Giorgetti emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening public healthcare services during his speech at the League's States General on Health. In addition, €1.3 billion will be dedicated to the renovation and technological modernization of public health assets from 2027 to 2036. The health sector will be exempt from the planned partial freeze on civil servant turnover in 2025, recognizing its unique needs.

Giorgetti stressed the importance of promoting demand amid uncertainty to achieve anticipated economic growth in 2025. He reassured that the government's economic measures aim to alleviate concerns related to uncertainty and encourage full participation from all sectors. The minister also emphasized the need for coordinated efforts in public finance management to maintain fiscal discipline while addressing the overall objectives set for the coming years.
