Zurich Insurance Group recently completed a share buyback program, purchasing 2,221,529 shares at a cost of 1.1 billion Swiss francs. This acquisition accounted for 1.47 percent of the company's share capital and was carried out between June 17 and October 30, 2024.
The buybacks were executed through a second trading line on the SIX Swiss Exchange, with an average purchase price of 495.15 francs per share. The company intends to cancel the repurchased shares using its capital band.
In the previous buyback program, which ended on June 7, 2023, Zurich had bought back approximately 4.1 million shares for 1.8 billion francs, representing about 2.7 percent of its share capital.
Currently, Zurich's shares are trading at 509.00 francs, reflecting a 1.4 percent decline. However, they have appreciated around 16 percent year-to-date, reaching a multi-year high of 529.60 francs in October.
