DOJ seeks to compel Google to divest Chrome browser amid antitrust concerns

The U.S. Department of Justice is planning to ask a judge to force Google to sell its Chrome internet browser, as reported by Bloomberg News.

The decision comes after a ruling in August that found Google guilty of illegally monopolizing the search market.

Google, which currently dominates about two-thirds of the global browser market, argues that its search engine"s success is a result of its quality and that it faces significant competition from companies like Amazon.

The tech giant maintains that users have the option to choose alternative search engines as their defaults.

In response to the DOJ"s intentions, Google criticized the agency"s approach as a "radical agenda" that could have a negative impact on consumers.
