India's Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has stressed the need for stronger political backing to speed up the conclusion of the proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union.
In a meeting with Sophie Primas, France's Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Goyal highlighted the importance of advancing negotiations on the FTA, Investment Protection Agreement, and Agreement on Geographical Indications.
This meeting, which took place on November 27, was the first official discussion between the two ministers since the formation of the French government under President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Modi's third term.
The conversation focused on trade, investment, and other shared interests, underscoring the ongoing efforts to strengthen economic ties between India and France.
