foreign institutional investors sell shares as domestic investors continue buying

Shares worth Rs 3,412 crore were sold by foreign institutional investors (FIIs), while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,784 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.

The Sensex closed down 241 points, or 0.3 percent, at 77,339, and the Nifty fell 79 points to 23,454.

DIIs purchased shares worth Rs 13,658 crore and sold Rs 10,874 crore during the trading session. In contrast, FIIs bought shares worth Rs 15,255 crore but sold equities totaling Rs 18,667 crore.

Year-to-date figures show that FIIs have net sold Rs 2.88 lakh crore, while DIIs have net bought Rs 5.57 lakh crore in shares.
