The investigation into bribery and corruption allegations involving Bombardier Inc. has been officially closed by the UK"s Serious Fraud Office (SFO).
The SFO has decided to defer to ongoing investigations in the United States and Canada, stating that these overseas authorities are better equipped to advance the case.
The SFO initiated its inquiry in 2020, focusing on Bombardier"s dealings with PT Garuda Indonesia, which had placed orders for Bombardier CRJ regional jets. The first delivery of these jets occurred in 2012.
This decision by the SFO highlights the collaborative nature of international investigations into corporate misconduct and represents a significant development in the scrutiny of Bombardier"s business practices amid allegations of corruption related to its international dealings.
