Heinz Huber, the Chairman of the Executive Board of Raiffeisen Switzerland, will transition to the role of Chairman at Graubündner Kantonalbank (GKB) in the summer of 2025.
Huber will officially take office on July 1, 2025, succeeding Peter Fanconi, who has already indicated his intention to resign in July 2024.
Huber's departure from Raiffeisen will occur at the end of this year, prompting the cooperative banking group to initiate a search for his successor.
Huber has been at the helm of Raiffeisen Switzerland since January 2019, leading the cooperative banking group through challenges and restoring stability.
He has extensive experience in the financial sector, having served as the Chairman and member of the management board at Thurgauer Kantonalbank.
The transition at GKB is designed to ensure continuity and stability within the bank, with Fanconi remaining in his position until the end of June 2025.
Christian Poerschke, currently the Head of the Finance and Services Department and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board at Raiffeisen, will assume the role of Chairman on an interim basis starting January 1, 2025.
The search for Huber's successor at Raiffeisen reflects the importance of leadership continuity in the banking sector.
The transition of leadership at both Raiffeisen and GKB highlights the dynamic nature of the Swiss banking sector and the need for experienced leaders.
