AI is expected to have a significant impact on the energy sector, according to Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Puri stated that AI will bring about a revolution in operations, improve efficiency, and support the transition to a more sustainable energy landscape.
He also mentioned that the adoption of AI could contribute around Rs 33.8 lakh crore to India's economy by 2030. Puri highlighted that Indian Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in the energy sector are already utilizing AI and Machine Learning (ML) technologies to enhance safety, security, and operational efficiencies across different sites.
This integration of technology aligns with the Prime Minister's vision of achieving a "Viksit Bharat" by 2047, emphasizing the crucial role of AI in shaping the future of energy in India.
