Impulse Space has successfully raised $150 million in a Series B funding round to advance its development of high-energy orbital transfer vehicles.
The funding round was led by Founders Fund, with participation from Lux Capital, Spring Tide, and venture fund DCVC.
The company aims to differentiate itself in the crowded orbital transfer vehicle market by emphasizing the performance capabilities of its vehicles. Both Mira and Helios utilize chemical propulsion systems that provide substantial delta-v, allowing for enhanced maneuverability and rapid on-orbit responsiveness.
The funding will be used to develop an upgraded version of Mira, with its first launch planned for late 2025, followed by the inaugural mission of Helios in 2026.
Impulse Space has also introduced a GEO rideshare program, offering slots on Helios vehicles for smaller GEO spacecraft. The company has secured one customer for this service, Space Network Services.
Impulse Space has been selected by NASA as one of three participants in its Venture-Class Acquisition of Dedicated and Rideshare contract, further solidifying its position in the space transportation industry.
With its focus on high-performance vehicles and strategic partnerships, Impulse Space is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing market for innovative transportation solutions in the space industry.
