ubs sponsors art san diego 2024 supporting local artists and communities

UBS has reaffirmed its commitment to the arts and community support by serving as the presenting sponsor for Art San Diego 2024. This marks their 16th consecutive year in this role.

Art San Diego 2024

The event, which will take place from November 1-3, 2024, at the San Diego Convention Center, is expected to attract over 10,000 attendees. Art San Diego is a premier contemporary art fair that showcases a diverse array of artworks from international, national, and local artists.

UBS's Partnership with Local Organizations

UBS's partnership with various local organizations highlights their dedication to fostering local artistic communities. The Access to Art program, launched in 2018, plays a pivotal role in this initiative by providing educational and marketing opportunities in art, design, and business development. This year, the program will feature a collaborative installation created by students from Monarch School, who have been working alongside professional artists to explore the theme of transforming a house into a home through imaginative design and meaningful art.

Art San Diego Highlights

Art San Diego serves as a significant platform for both emerging and established artists, featuring over 450 artists and more than 90 national and international galleries. The event includes the Art San Diego Gallery Pavilion, which showcases well-established galleries and artist collectives, attracting art industry insiders seeking cutting-edge contemporary art. Additionally, the [SOLO] Pavilion provides independent artists and fine art photographers with the opportunity to gain visibility among collectors and art enthusiasts. The fair also includes the San Diego Selects program, which recognizes outstanding works of art. A panel of local arts administrators and advocates will select five pieces to be awarded "Best in Show." This initiative highlights the talent within the local art community and reinforces the importance of supporting and promoting artistic endeavors in the region.

Philanthropic Program: Access to Art

UBS's philanthropic program, Access to Art, collaborates with organizations like Monarch School and Humble Design to provide meaningful opportunities for students impacted by homelessness. Art San Diego attendees will have the chance to purchase artwork created by these students, with proceeds directly benefiting the Monarch School Project. The collaborative installation at the fair will feature a variety of artistic expressions, including symbolic shapes and three-dimensional objects, all designed to evoke the concept of home.

Local Heritage and Global Engagement

This year’s participating artists bring unique perspectives and styles that reflect the cultural richness of the San Diego-Tijuana border region. Their works not only celebrate local heritage but also engage with broader themes of identity and community. UBS's involvement in Art San Diego is part of their broader strategy to support the arts on a global scale. The firm is also the global lead partner of Art Basel and co-publisher of the annual Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report. The latest report indicates that the US art market continues to dominate globally, accounting for 42% of sales by value, followed by China at 19%. UBS's commitment to the arts is reflected in their extensive art collection, which includes over 30,000 works by influential artists. Through their sponsorship of Art San Diego and ongoing philanthropic initiatives, UBS demonstrates a multifaceted approach to community engagement and support for the arts.
